Nerojbleo 2022 – Gulfi
Vino d’ingresso della nota azienda di Chiaramonte che può ben rappresentare la Sicilia nel mondo del vino di qualità.
Nero d’Avola coltivato sui Monti Iblei con lunga sosta sulle bucce, 12 mesi tra barrique e tonneau e altri 12 mesi in bottiglia.
Vino di colore scuro. Il naso è di buona intensità con fragranze di frutto maturo, cassis e amarena principalmente, spezie ed essenze orientali, ma anche l’estratto di pomodoro/umami, che ritroviamo anche al palato, e un ché di carnoso/sanguigno.
Di buon corpo senza strafare, gratificante e tonico. Saldo, quasi morbido, con tutti gli elementi di struttura che agiscono all’unisono ben fusi nella materia. La dominante resta il frutto, ricco e maturo.
Non un vino da aspettare, molto centrato sulla maturità, per quanto io sia testimone “gustativo” di grandi performance sulla distanza da parte dei vini di Gulfi.
Nerojbleo 2022 – Gulfi
An entry-level wine from the well-known estate in Chiaramonte Gulfi, and one that can effectively represent Sicily in the world of quality wine. Nero d’Avola grown in the Iblei Mountains, with extended skin contact; it spends 12 months ageing between barriques and tonneaux, followed by another 12 months in bottle.
In the glass it is deeply coloured. The bouquet shows good intensity, centred on ripe fruit—cassis and, above all, sour cherry—along with spices and a hint of oriental essences. In the background there is an umami-like note of tomato extract, which also reappears on the palate, together with a slightly meaty/bloody nuance.
It has good body without overdoing it: satisfying and lively, firm, almost supple, with all structural elements acting in unison and well integrated into the wine’s substance. The dominant note remains the fruit, rich and ripe.
Not a wine to hold back for later: it’s best enjoyed in its current phase, even though Gulfi’s wines have repeatedly proven they can perform superbly over time.
